Our Story
37 years of showing up for Rio Rancho.
Rio Rancho Hardware was founded in 1989 by George Sr. and Peggy — a family who believed a hardware store should be more than a place to buy supplies. It should be a resource, a neighbor, and a constant in the community.
In March 2022, George Jr. and his wife Kerian took the reins, carrying that same spirit forward. In 2025, the store went fully independent — and in 2026, we're celebrating 37 years of serving Rio Rancho and our first full year on our own terms.
We've expanded three times, built our current home in 2001, launched a Garden Center in 2017, and grown it twice since. Through all of it, the mission hasn't changed: hire people who know their stuff, treat every customer like a neighbor, and stock what Rio Rancho actually needs.

Our history
George Sr. and Peggy open Rio Rancho Hardware — a family-owned neighborhood store serving the community from day one.
First expansion — growing to meet the needs of a rapidly developing Rio Rancho.
Second expansion as the store continues to grow alongside the community.
Built and moved into our current building — the home we've been in ever since.
Launched the Garden Center, bringing seeds, soil, plants, and outdoor supplies to Rio Rancho.
First expansion of the Garden Center to meet growing demand.
Garden Center expands again. In March, George Jr. and his wife Kerian purchase the business from George Sr. and Peggy — keeping it in the family.
Rio Rancho Hardware goes independent — a new chapter built on 36 years of community trust.
Celebrating 37 years of serving Rio Rancho and our first full year as an independent.
